Mumbai, Nov 30: Healthcare is a crucial aspect of our everyday life. Research and new discoveries are helping medical science further improve knowledge and best practices. A significant part of this progress is educating healthcare professionals (HCPs). In the traditional education setting, HCPs have to face many difficulties. But, with technological advancements, aspiring and practising physicians are embracing online education more and more to learn and stay updated on the latest findings.

MediSage, a globally recognized healthcare knowledge platform for medical professionals, has conducted an extensive survey to understand how HCPs perceive online medical education. The project, ‘Perception Survey on Online Medical Education for Indian Healthcare Practitioners’, highlights the challenges that HCPs face in accessing online medical education and also studies the participation rates, impediments to engagement and strategies recommended by HCPs for addressing these challenges.

The survey, covering 205 HCPs, investigates the different kinds of challenges that HCPs face in the realm of online medical education. From demographic information to opinions on peer interaction, the survey provides a comprehensive analysis of online education in the healthcare domain.

Notably, governments of several countries have recognized the importance of HCPs’ role and coming up with strategies to help them overcome barriers in the healthcare sector. Such initiatives include improving Internet infrastructure in underserved areas to ensure that HCPs can access essential resources and information. Moreover, flexible learning schedules are being included to accommodate the different needs of healthcare professionals, fostering continuous education and skill development.

Bhagwat Dhingra, MD & Founder, MediSage, said, “I am delighted to share the findings of our recent survey, 'Perception Survey on Online Medical Education for Indian Healthcare Practitioners.' The results reveal a positive and progressive trend in the adoption of online healthcare education among healthcare professionals (HCPs). According to the survey, an impressive 73.41% of HCPs actively participate in online healthcare education, showcasing a growing reliance on digital platforms for professional development.

The challenges identified in the survey, such as conflicts in work schedules, lack of motivation, and concerns about privacy/security on online platforms, underscore the need for strategic interventions to enhance the accessibility and effectiveness of online medical education.

It is heartening to see that over 50% of surveyed HCPs express confidence in the utility of online education, demonstrating a positive attitude towards integrating digital platforms into their learning journey”. The survey results provide valuable insights into the evolving landscape of healthcare education, and we look forward to collaborating with healthcare professionals, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to further enhance the quality and accessibility of online medical education.

This survey by MediSage will act as a guiding tool for the healthcare sector towards a future where online medical education will seamlessly integrate into the professional development framework. This comprehensive study is not just a survey, but is also a pioneering step towards carving the future of healthcare education.
